DEPUTY U.S. MARSHALL  2004

At times I work from photographs, sometimes staged in period garb. I sketched out this pattern and band sawed the general shape out of a block of basswood. The shotgun and hand holding it is from a photo of my cousin Chuck. The hand pulling back the duster and reaching for the single action Colt .45 is my hand. The inspiration for the face probably comes from the many pictures and illustrations of Wyatt Earp I have seen over the years. 17" h Finished in boiled linseed oil, home made stains and liquid wax.
