Ronald Wilson Reagan was the 40th President of the United States (1981-1989). The idea for this piece was suggested by a friend and former business partner last fall. I chose a US Postage stamp for the likeness and did the carving as a relief. The orientation is a three quarter profile view, which proved to be a challenge, along with the fact that most people know what Reagan looks like. I worked on this piece on and off (remember this is a hobby) from November 2012 to August 2013.

The wood is a 3 inch thick slab, 10 by 10 inches. It is finished with boiled linseed oil, some acrylic water base paint "washes," clear coat and wax.
