IN LOVE AS ONE  2001

Eagles mate for life. It's a fact, look it up. This is two variations on the same theme. The first carving was done in basswood. The second piece is in maple purchased from a saw mill in Andover, New Jersey. Huge mistake, maple is just too difficult a wood to work by hand. The inspiration for the design came on a trip to British Columbia, Canada in 2000. The original sketch was made on the back of an old envelope on a street corner in Banff. Band sawed, chain sawed, electric grinder, hand carved and hand shaped. The final finish is achieved through hand sanding and an application of boiled linseed oil, clear sealer and hand rubbed paste wax. 14" h X 15" w
